COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- A group of students from Beijing have been in the United States for the past few weeks and this week, they made a stop in Columbus signing an agreement to make it easier to transfer to a school in our area.
They've traveled over a thousand miles to get here from their school in Beijing China.
"We are here on a academic trip and also it's a vision trip for our students to get to know probably what their future holds for them," Hong said.
Hu Hong is the Principal at A Plus Learning Center in Beijing. She says most young people eventually leave their native country of China and come to the United States for more job opportunities. The trip is fitting for this group of eager middle and high school students.
"They love it, some of them say they could just stay here," Hong said.
9th Grader Ariuss Han is one of the many students at A Plus who have enjoyed being in the United States over past 20 days.
"The environment is pretty good and many trees and flowers I really love here and the sky is clear and blue and the clouds are really nice," Han said.
The group's first stop was in our Nation's Capitol, Washington D.C.
"We visited all the museums and we had teachers there helping them with American revolution," Hong said.
From D.C. they stopped in Chattanooga, TN for a Civil War history lesson and visited a few museums and the aquarium.?
Wednesday, they were at Columbus Tech where the president of the school signed a special agreement fostering a relationship with A Plus Learning Center students. That agreement will make an easy transition for students to come to Columbus Tech.
"To see them come together and to see all of them be so enthusiastic and wanting to learn about other cultures in other peoples worlds," Columbus Tech President Bob Jones said.
The students will be in town for one more day making a stop at the National Infantry Museum and Coca Cola Space Science Center. ?The group will head back to Beijing on Friday.
