Edmontonians step up to adopt from crowded humane society | Metro

After the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) announced their inability to accept new owner-surrendered animals yesterday, Edmonton?s residents have responded in droves.

As of Thursday afternoon, 49 animals have been adopted since the announcement was made.

?The shelter has been extremely busy with people interested in adopting a pet. There?s a lot of support from the city,? said EHS spokesperson Travis Grant.

While EHS has taken in 40 stray animals in that same time, Grant still remains positive that Edmontonians will continue to answer the call.

?All indicators point to numbers having a good climb,? he said.
