Former Virginia basketball star Mike Scott , 24, of Chesapeake signed a two-year contract of undisclosed terms with the Atlanta Hawks, who chose him in the draft?s second round.

The United Football League confirmed that its fourth season will be delayed in order to give teams more time to sign players and conduct training camps.
The defending champion Virginia Destroyers, coached by Marty Schottenheimer, now will open the season Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. against the host Las Vegas Locomotives, last year?s runners-up, guided by Jim Fassel.
All four teams still are scheduled to play eight games, with CBS Sports Network televising each contest. Most games are on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Destroyers? home opener will be Oct. 5 against Sacramento at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
Also, the championship game was moved to Saturday, Dec. 1, at a site to be announced.
But the Virginia Destroyers Fan Club released a statement on Twitter, saying it would no longer support the team or the UFL. ?Buy tickets at your own risk,? the statement said.

Host Salisbury overcame a one-goal halftime deficit to defeat Christopher Newport 3-2 in a matchup of nationally ranked Division III teams.
The fourth-ranked Sea Gulls scored their goals in a four-minute span during the second half. Shelby Judkins? goal cut the 17th-ranked Captains? deficit to 3-2 with 13:30 left in the game. Marlene Lichty scored in the first half for CNU.
