Ann Arbor, MI -?Bank of Ann Arbor today revealed that it would donate $75,000 to 15 different nonprofit groups as part of a social-media-powered contest.
Another $3,500 apiece will go to Down Syndrome Support Team, Friends of Fiddlers Restrung, The Neutral Zone, Hope Clinic and Ozone House.
The bank is donating $1,500 each to Friends of Ann Arbor Skatepark, Midwest Eye Banks, Performance Network, Ronald McDonald House and Perry Nursery School.
The donations were a result of Bank of Ann Arbor?s Sweet 15 Local Charity Drive. Through the campaign, the bank asked Facebook users to ?like? the bank?s page and then vote on the nonprofits they wanted to receive funding.
The bank reported that users cast more than 113,000 votes for some 600 charities, and the bank?s Facebook page went from 279 fans to nearly 17,000.
?The enthusiasm and passion displayed by the community for our local nonprofits has been overwhelming as evidenced by the total number of votes,? Bank of Ann Arbor CEO Tim Marshall said in a statement.
