Internet site promotion for tour operators - article

In the wake of the current process updates by Google, webmasters around the globe are scurrying to wash their websites of any potential elements that might endanger their internet presence or Google rankings. All of a sudden, the web-masters have woken up to the importance of moral SEO practices, leaving nothing to possibilities. In this context, it is important for the new webmasters to find out how to approach the website optimization to gain sustainable visibility for their web sites.

First off, you need to understand the components of the ultimate SEO mix. Though Google doesn?t have anything laid out in explicit terms about the way in which the webmasters should approach their site promotion, it still is thought Google tends to like websites that are designed to help users and not confuse or trap them. As an example, if a user lands on your internet site and gets confused with your confusing navigational links, it might upset Google massively.

The most sensible way to approach your internet site promotion is to design a campaign or your plan in a fashion that mixes user friendly content with a great design that makes it simple for your visitors to navigate thru your internet site. If the visitors find your website an excellent place to hang around for their informative needs, possibilities are Google will like it too.

Bernanke says Fed ready to act but short on specifics

By Pedro da Costa and Alister Bull

JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Friday left the door wide open to a further easing of monetary policy, saying the stagnation in the U.S. labor market was a "grave concern," but he stopped short of providing a clear signal of imminent action.

His stark language gave a temporary lift to U.S. stocks, but economists walked away from the Fed chairman's remarks still divided over whether the central bank would launch a fresh round of bond purchases at its upcoming meeting in September.

Bernanke said the Fed had to weigh the costs as well as the benefits of more monetary stimulus, although he hinted the costs were likely worthwhile.

"As we assess the benefits and costs of alternative policy approaches ... we must not lose sight of the daunting economic challenges that confront our nation," Bernanke said at the Kansas City Fed's annual Jackson Hole symposium.

"Taking due account of the uncertainties and limits of its policy tools, the Federal Reserve will provide additional policy accommodation as needed to promote a stronger economic recovery and sustained improvement in labor market conditions in a context of price stability."

That was a somewhat weaker hint of policy easing than the minutes of the Fed's last policy meeting had delivered, but Bernanke's dour economic assessment left few doubts where his sympathy lay.

"The stagnation of the labor market in particular is a grave concern not only because of the enormous suffering and waste of human talent it entails, but also because persistently high levels of unemployment will wreak structural damage on our economy that could last for many years," Bernanke said.

Financial markets see-sawed in the wake of Bernanke's comments. U.S. stocks closed roughly where they were before Bernanke spoke, but yields on U.S. government bonds hit a three-week low in anticipation of Fed action and the U.S. dollar fell against both the euro and the yen.

EYES ON THE LABOR MARKET

In response to the financial crisis and recession of 2007-09, the Fed cut overnight interest rates to near zero and bought $2.3 trillion in government and mortgage securities in two separate rounds of so-called quantitative easing.

It next meets on September 12-13, and policymakers have been locked in debate over whether further bond purchases are warranted to spur a stronger recovery.

Economists said Bernanke's emphasis on the health of the job market throws an especially strong spotlight on a report due on September 7 on job growth in August. Hiring picked up in July but the jobless rate moved up to 8.3 percent.

"The speech did not add anything to the information that we had, but, importantly, it did not subtract anything either," said Roberto Perli, managing director of policy research at the International Strategy and Investment Group in Washington.

"It did not walk back an inch from the fairly dovish tone of the minutes," he said, adding it was "probably more a question of when, not if" on further asset purchases.

DOWNPLAYS RISKS OF UNCONVENTIONAL POLICIES

The Fed's aggressive efforts to prop up the economy have drawn criticism from Republican politicians for potentially sowing the seeds for inflation and asset bubbles.

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has said he does not think a third round of quantitative easing, or QE3 in market parlance, would help the economy, and some analysts think the central bank may be hesitant to act ahead of the November 6 presidential election. After September, the Fed has one more policy meeting in late October before Americans go to the polls.

Bernanke, however, downplayed the potential risks from the Fed's unconventional policies and argued the asset purchases had been quite effective at boosting economic growth.

"The costs of nontraditional policies, when considered carefully, appear manageable," he said.

The economy emerged from recession nearly three years ago, but growth has remained tepid. U.S. gross domestic product advanced at a 1.7 percent annual rate in the second quarter, too weak to bring down the nation's elevated unemployment rate.

"Unless the economy begins to grow more quickly than it has recently, the unemployment rate is likely to remain far above levels consistent with maximum sustainable employment," Bernanke said. The Fed is charged with pursuing both price stability and full employment.

Economic data has improved since the Fed's July 31-August 1 meeting, which came before the stronger-than-expected reading for July employment. Reports on retail sales, exports and housing have also been relatively solid.

A report on Friday showed U.S. consumer sentiment hit a three-month high in August, although pessimism on the future remained.

The economy's generally better tone has led some market participants to dial back their expectations of a fresh round of Fed bond purchases in September.

As an alternative, many economists say, the Fed may simply push further into the future the date it thinks it will finally start to move interest rates higher. The central bank has said since January that it expects to keep rates near zero at least through late 2014.

Aide: Romney Found Eastwood Speech 'Funny'

KENNER, La. -- A senior adviser to Mitt Romney?s campaign acknowledged on Friday that actor/director Clint Eastwood veered off previously discussed talking points in his controversial Republican National Convention address, but said the Republican nominee enjoyed the speech and found it ?funny.?

?I was backstage with him and he was laughing,? said the adviser, Stuart Stevens, speaking to reporters aboard Romney?s charter flight in the New Orleans metropolitan area.

The New York Times, quoting unnamed aides, said Eastwood's speech seemed to startle and unsettle the Romney campaign, and that several of them took pains to distance themselves from the decision to put him onstage without a script that had been rehearsed like virtually all other prime-time convention addresses.

Eastwood?s speech, which went for 12 minutes instead of the allotted five, consisted largely of a meandering indictment of President Obama, with the Hollywood icon addressing an empty chair to represent Obama. He touched on a variety of topics from the detention center at Guantanamo Bay to the war in Afghanistan, while also getting in digs at Biden -- whom he called ?a grin with a body behind it? -- and seemingly made a coarse joke about Obama.

Asked for his reaction to the joke, Stevens said it was ?probably a lot less damaging and meaningless and more meaningless than the president of the United States supporting a campaign that?s accusing Mitt Romney of being responsible of someone?s murder,? referring to an ad created by a super PAC supporting Obama that sought to link Romney's Bain Capital to a woman?s death from cancer. Stevens later said he had been referring to the cancer death and had not meant to use the word "murder."

Stevens called Eastwood?s use of the chair ?improv.? He said the campaign was unaware that Eastwood was going to use the prop.

?I never discussed, I mean, about a chair. Don?t know,? Stevens said. ?This was an idea, a moment that moved him, I would say, and he went with it.?

Although Stevens acknowledged that he began eyeing the clock as Eastwood?s remarks stretched on, he insisted that the campaign was happy with the celebrity?s performance.

?He?s an astonishing talent ? he?s had the most remarkable career,? Stevens said. ?And if someone wants to say, ?Well, you know, I would have done this differently or that differently,? have at it.?

Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, told a television station in Virginia on Friday that he wasn't bothered by the speech. "I think Clint Eastwood was just being Clint Eastwood," Ryan said.

(AP) ? A Pakistani court Friday ordered a Christian girl accused of blasphemy to be held in prison for two more weeks as police finalize charges against her, her lawyer and police said, the latest step in a case that has stoked controversy at home and abroad.

The case has focused attention on Pakistan's strict blasphemy laws that can result in prison or even death for insulting Islam. Human rights activists have long criticized the laws and said they are used to persecute non-Muslims and settle personal scores.

The court's decision was procedural, since the girl's initial two-week detention ended Thursday, said her lawyer, Tahir Naveed Chaudhry. He hopes she will be freed on bail at a hearing Saturday, he said.

Local TV video from the court showed the girl covered in a white sheet to protect her identity and surrounded by police, including two female constables.

This case generated an uproar because of reports that the girl was as young as 11 and suffered from Down syndrome. A neighbor has accused her of burning pages from Islam's holy book, the Quran, but her lawyer has denied the allegation.

A medical report released this week said the girl was 14 and that her mental state did not correspond with her age. The report could mean the girl will be tried in the more lenient juvenile court system, which could possibly defuse the highly contentious case.

During an initial bail hearing Thursday, the lawyer for the man who accused the girl of blasphemy asked that the medical report be rejected, saying it unduly favored the accused. The judge delayed the hearing until Saturday to investigate the lawyer's accusations.

The Associated Press is withholding the girl's name because it does not generally identify underage suspects.

Police arrested the girl from her neighborhood in Islamabad over two weeks after an angry mob of several hundred appeared at a local police station, demanding action against her for alleged blasphemy. Police said at the time that they took her into custody partly to protect her from potential harm.

People accused of blasphemy, even those who aren't convicted, often face vigilante justice by outraged Pakistanis. A Pakistani man accused of blasphemy in July was dragged from a police station in the center of the country, beaten to death and his body set on fire.

Christians in the girl's neighborhood left the area en masse as soon as the accusations surfaced, fearing retribution from their Muslim neighbors.

On Monday, the All Pakistan Ulema Council, an umbrella organization of Muslim clerics, held a news conference together with the Pakistan Interfaith League and called for an investigation into whether the girl was wrongly accused and what role religious extremism played.

The head of the clerics' council, Maulana Tahir-ul-Ashrafi, is seen as close to the government. It's unclear whether other government officials or clerics will speak out, since blasphemy is an extremely sensitive and potentially dangerous subject in Pakistan.

Two prominent politicians who criticized the blasphemy laws were murdered last year. One was killed by his own bodyguard, who then attracted adoring crowds.

Immediately following the girl's arrest, President Asif Ali Zardari issued a statement calling for an investigation, but he has said nothing since then.
